Now I want a band to be named The Banned just to make The Band even more confusing.

(Okay, I'm sure there probably is at least one if not several. I refuse to find out and wallow in my ignorance.)

27

u/GunnieGraves Nov 30 '22

There’s a The Band cover group that is called “The The Band Band”. It hurts my brain and makes sense at the same time.

12

Can someone tell me why these two drugs have so different places to consume?

47

u/HotAd8825 Nov 30 '22

Tweaker’s, cokeheads and opiate fiends all look down on each other. Despite all doing drugs that can lead them to stealing copper.

16

u/GrBBabu Nov 30 '22

I don't know what the fuck you said but they hate each other. Got it.

20

u/HotAd8825 Nov 30 '22

Lemme translate to plain english and not my American bs. People who are addicted to heroin, meth or cocaine tend to not like each other. But they are all equally dangerous drugs. But when I say steal copper, I’m referencing that it can be common for poor people with bad drug problems to rob construction sites or abandoned buildings of all the copper pipes. They can sell it as scrap metal to unscrupulous buyers.

22

u/LMkingly Nov 30 '22

But they are all equally dangerous drugs

i'd say in terms of danger and addicting it's heroin>meth>coke.

19

u/Solid_Coffee Nov 30 '22

And yet the order of people you’d want as your neighbours would be coke>heroin>meth

11

u/NoPointsForSecond Nov 30 '22

Well, coke is "rich mans" drug.

Then would go to the tweakers house and they would say they aren’t junkies they just use a little bit of heroin to calm down after being up for a few days.

Suck the fire, kick the dick... Set the old homeless person?

I got it. This is the slogan for my Three Pronged Organization for cleaning up the city.

Suck fire (firefighting and fire education)

Kicking dicks (kicking people who are dicks)

Setting old homeless people... Up with affordable housing to give them piece of mind in their remaining years

Legit thought you were talking about The Rave in Milwaukee. I've been told that at The Rave a lot of shit flies. I remember people passing a blunt around during an Asking Alexandria set, I had to move away so I wouldn't start sneezing (smoking smoke makes me sneeze if I'm around it too long, idk why).

41

u/ssor21 Nov 30 '22

494

u/FastWalkingShortGuy Nov 30 '22

I was in the festival circuit for a while as an artist and I don't envy people with this woman's job.

She's most likely associated with the promoter/label and it's her responsibility to make sure dumb shit doesn't go down when their acts are performing.

There's a certain level of shit that's tolerated: no one's going to give you shit if you spark a joint in the alley outside the club or even rip a fat rail or three in your car before you enter the venue, but some fans are just wildly entitled and do shit like smoke meth in the bathroom or K-hole themselves on the dance floor.

You couldn't pay me enough to do what she does.

29

u/BrainOnLoan Nov 30 '22

They don't care whether you do drugs, but they do care if you inconvenience them and pause problems they have to figure out.

First rule: If they can't plausibly deny that staff saw/observed you took illegal drugs, you are out of luck. That's just a liability issue. Don't do drugs directly in front of staff.

Second, even a whiff of you selling drugs and you're out. Depending on the venue, they are calling the cops on you.

Third, if they suspect you're on hard drugs, you'll be shown the door quicker than a sober person would be, if you start behaving really weird, or getting close to the line that anyone might face a talking with security for.
A sober person might have gotten off with a warning, but if you're being weird on drugs it's just more likely that issues will arise. So you're not getting the benefit of the doubt.

Obviously there are venues with a much looser culture (and a handful a bit more strict), but the above covers well over 80%, imho. The difference is mostly in where the lines of 'plausible deniability' and 'acting weird'/'crossing the line' will be drawn.

4

u/Firm_CandleToo Nov 30 '22

Idk if this will apply everywhere….I’ve been ROLLING BALLS and always get let in. I’ve gone to fests where we walk by cops tripping balls.

Maybe I go to different shows but if they started kicking people out for hard drugs at the stuff I go to there would be like 30 people left.

147

u/Flipper_of_sticks Nov 30 '22

I’ve been to dozens of show/fest and have enjoyed my share of “activities” but i see these people who goo waaaay to hard (k hole on the dance floor) and just can’t understand why anyone would want to do that at an event you paid to enjoy lol the fuck. A lot of work goes into the production. At least be coherent enough to enjoy it.

68

u/subnu Nov 30 '22 edited Nov 30 '22

After seeing some guy breathing shallow in the sun during a festival, and having some girls freak out and start CPR on him (although he probably didn't need it), that's all I've really needed to pass on the whole K thing.

Edit: could've been a mixture of the K and heatstroke as well

13

u/PmMeYourPasswordPlz Nov 30 '22

What is this K thing? K-hole?

37

u/NotChristina Nov 30 '22

K-holes are a deep dissociation brought on by Ketamine. Known for being pretty wild and filled with hallucinations, time dilation, general mental fuckery. (But it itself is not a hallucinogen, per se, but an anesthetic.)

Many moons ago I dabbled with ketamine for curiosity purposes, but given that I was alone I always stayed away from k-hole doses.

34

u/PmMeYourPasswordPlz Nov 30 '22 Ally

Oh I see. Thank you Christina.

17

u/SuaveThrower Nov 30 '22

I think you misread their username. That is clearly not Christina.

52

u/Cats_in_my_ears Nov 30 '22

Breathing at all is most likely a disqualification for CPR. Some abnormal breathing patterns could call for CPR, but I wouldn't trust a freaking out festi girl to recognize them.

9

u/iamatwork24 Nov 30 '22

Doing CPR when it’s not needed makes me think of the episode of family guy where Peter takes a class and uses it in a few scenarios where it’s not needed. You’re essentially just trying to break someone’s sternum if you do it without them neeeding it

6

u/improbablynotyou Nov 30 '22

Sorry, old white guy here... "k hole?" Thanks.

13

u/JustMy2Pence Nov 30 '22

Ketamine, aside from it's pharmaceutical uses as an anesthetic and treatment for depression, is often used in underground party scenes in a dehydrated, crystaline form that is crushed up to a fine powder and snorted. The effect it has when ingested this way is that of a psychoactive dissociative.

In lower to average doses, it can be both stimulating and relaxing, create feelings of euphoria, slight feelings of dissociation (such as kind of "floating" through space/not really in your body), and more. I've known plenty of people who use ketamine at these doses to socialize, create art, write, and dance.

In higher doses, it can cause a more extreme dissociative effect that people have coined the "K-hole". This can cause you to feel completely disconnected from reality, which can have a profound effect on a lot of people. However you also lose quite a bit of environmental awareness and bodily control. There are some people who have enough experience in this mind(or lacktherof)state to negate these more "physical" effects, but most people who do enough ketamine to get into a "K-hole" definitely don't have the coordination to do so much as even be standing up straight.

As with lots of drugs, it's relatively harmless in moderation - as most things are relatively harmless in moderation. It's when people who can't handle their shit do too much in public and things go sideways.

Hope this helped!

Cheers :)

(Source: plenty of personal experience in my twenties)

31

u/WhatIfThatThingISaid Nov 30 '22

K is suuuuch a lame club drug. Way too many shows with k zombies. It's an after show drug, if anything. I got some a few years ago for nostalgia but it was so.... exactly how it always was. Just lame wobbly dumb shit. MXE is even more intensely stupid of a drug

15

u/Rememberrmyname Nov 30 '22

Try a big fat line, I was in a tesseract kaleidoscope of self reflection for an hour. Almost a religious experience.

9

u/dick_nachos Nov 30 '22

It's available in a few states as a treatment for treatment resistant depression.

3

u/kindashort72 Nov 30 '22

I never viewed dissociatives as party drugs, mxe was some fantastic stuff but I did mine at home and didn't go out in public on it. I'm very confused by people who would take ketamine in public.

I once got caught in an alley outside a club in Deep Ellum. Big dude in a cop jacket marked security rolls up with his flash light. 3 of us blazing away look up like deer caught in headlights, but before any of us could completely loose our shit he simply asked for a hit and left. Noice

3

u/Firm_CandleToo Nov 30 '22

Bruh buds been decriminalized in Dallas for like 2 years. It’s literally a ticket.

9

u/MoaXing Nov 30 '22

Concert stage manager here, but my start in the industry was working as venue security. The amount of times I had to haul someone through the venue while they were in the midst of their worst drug experience ever was staggering. I've seen people practically comatose, giving so many excuses as to why they shouldn't be escorted out, only to get picked up by a friend and need help even walking to the car.

Once I got into production work back stage, I figured I wouldn't have to deal with anything like that so much anymore. Anyways, on my first night in charge of the stage, someone had a seizure (medical condition) and then security brought someone through the backstage to get to the front and avoid the crowd (there's a corridor that goes around the auditorium) and they made it as far as the door before she had to puke in the trashcan by my desk.

I hate these submissions with the passion of a 1000 suns. Like, OK but how am I supposed to know that the club owner is telling the truth. Jesus.

According to the comments on facebook there was a surveillance tape that showed that the owner told the truth

Lmfao been to many many shows at the Miramar. Just missed PL playing there as an undercover dj by like three years. Saw Manic Focus there like 4 or 5 times. Just putting my cress down before I explain the Miramar.

Janky af but suuuuper relaxed when it comes to the average person. Just don’t smoke meth in the bathroom and you’ll be more than fine lmao.

I always wonder why everyone just automatically believes the business owner in these situations.

I mean, in this case it kind of seems like even if you take the original post at 100% face value it's... a little questionable. If I see someone bemoan being kicked out from three different events and banned for life from a venue, with a striking absence of any explanation why, just "this person must hate me!"... yeah I think it's probably their fault. Being kicked out of one party for getting rowdy, sure, benefit of the doubt. Three different ones and banned for "no reason"? Lol no. Venues don't like banning people, the more customers the better.

Sir, please use the restroom facilities at the Waffle House across the road if you wanna smoke meth on the toilet without judgement if they catch you.

I worked at Denny’s years ago and after I caught a group of people in the bathroom smoking meth ( unfortunately a regular occurrence) I asked them to leave. They did, except one girl who stayed behind and told me I was treating them unfairly and she was a regular customer. She requested the name and number of the manager to file a complaint against me.

u/Born505 Nov 30 '22

Now where's he gonna dance while high on meth?!!!

u/PhilthyPunk Nov 30 '22

Looks like those pics were taken in the bathroom which I'm pretty sure is illegal.
