MegaThread General Discussion Thread - for all quick questions, observations, and discussion of shorter topics. | Thread sorted by new

If you have a random or short theory, question, thought, or observation, this is the thread for that. The thread is sorted by new, so the newest post is on top. Treat each top level comment as if it were its own text post on the sub. This way we can keep the front page clearer for news, updates, and in-depth posts.

There are lots of new users who have questions, so keep in mind that at one point you might not have been as knowledgeable as you are now.

Please make at attempt to refrain from using initialisms in your comment. It's not a requirement to use them or not use them, but many users find it difficult to follow the flow of conversation when commenters rely heavily on arcane abbreviations and initials. We have updated and will continue to update our wiki page with abbreviations/initialisms. Please send suggestions for initialisms to add to the wiki to our modmail for inclusion.

Information Excellent interview regarding betrayal trauma

Murder Sheets has been growing on me with their most recent episodes even though I have not historically been a fan. However, this one is particularly helpful for all those asking, "How could RA's friends and family not know?"

If you only listen to one episode of Murder Sheet, I highly suggest you make it this one. It sheds light on the psychology behind betrayal trauma and how it affects our perception.

"We're feeling creatures who occasionally think, not thinking creatures who occasionally feel."

Information 01/20/23 episode of Murder Sheet

A lot of rumors have been started and have circulated on Reddit. I recently had the opportunity to sit down with Áine & Kevin for an episode of the Murder Sheet. It was released today. (A conversation with one of Richard Allen’s coworkers). I debunked a lot of the rumors that have formed, spread, and have been questioned.

I hope this clears up many of the stories. I have commented in the other threads but they have been lost in the comments.

Does anyone believe RA is not in fact guilty? If so, why?

There appears to be an overwhelming majority that believe RA is guilty based on the evidence we’re aware of as it stands. Interested to hear from people who may have a different view and the reasoning behind your view.

*Just want to thank everyone for their comments and views - really interesting to read through. For the record, I do believe RA is guilty but I wouldn’t be comfortable if I were on the jury putting my two pence in beyond reasonable doubt at this stage based on the evidence so far as incriminating as it seem.

I do however fully appreciate (and sincerely hope!) we probably haven’t even seen a fraction of the evidence the prosecution has under their belts as it stands.

I just hope justice is served for these lovely girls and their families in the near future one way or another.

Evidence Indiana supreme court and toolmark evidence

According to the MS interview published today with a practicing public defender in Indiana, the Indiana supreme court has previously ruled that toolmark evidence from an expended but unshot casing is admissible. Doesn't mean that evidence can't be countered and potentially discredited, but this is a big deal and precedent on one of the few pieces of direct evidence we know about so far. More physical evidence should become known after the bond hearing.

Both RA and KK put themselves at location of MHB

https://www.the-sun.com/news/7120810/delphi-murders-update-richard-allen-dna-court-appearance/

RA said he was there, told what he was wearing, but said he never saw the girls. KK said he made plans to meet Libby, but she never showed. Which means kk was there, too.

Theories Question

This is way more of like a general discussion post on an update page for theories and what not but I couldn’t find one. But do you think that RA could have been refound through it all because he was in a data base? And say someone like a “KK” or maybe something else could have led the cops to look up that name regarding the case? I think KK isn’t involved in this at all. But I think if there is some catfish thing going on then maybe RA could have been apart of it. And maybe KK just was rambling trynna get anyway off or reduc charges and that name came out? Very very far fetched. I definitely feel that this could be very much so just an isolated incident with rA being prime to be the guy and it was opportunistic. My guess he always would do this carry what he had and it was just to goodnof a opportunity. I do like the theory tho that he could have been faded off the booze. Imo it was sloppy someone had to much confidence (I.e) alc. and LE just did a bad job at rounding out and communicating within the case. Lmk what u think bout that

Theories I think the prosecution might make a deal

If there really were other parties involved, I suspect the prosecution may consider a deal for RA. We tend to operate under the assumption that KAK and family might be involved and the deal is to be made with KAK. Perhaps it will be the other way around. Thoughts?

Discussion Points made by OJ Simpson trial Jurors which can make or break a case.

So a while back, a couple of Jurors from the OJ Trial gave interviews to Kim Goldman (Ron Goldman's sister) on her podcast after almost 28 years and some of the points made by them is truly eye opening.
Other than the evidence itself, here are some of the factors that influences Jurors:

1) Jurors were too restricted and it affected their mental health. They spent literally no time in deliberation just because all of them wanted to simply get out. Not a single evidence was discussed by the jury. For months they were locked up in a hotel room. They were given nice dinners and all but that wasn't enough. They felt like they were in a lux prison. No news or access and only very limited contact with family didn't fair too well.

2) The 'order' of the evidence presented; One of the jurors said, towards the end of the trial they resented going in the courtroom and they almost forgot about all the DNA evidence because they were presented at the beginning of the trial.

3) The look, vibe and the personality of the attorneys. The jurors in that case almost developed an instant dislike towards the lead prosecutor Marcia Clark because didn't 'seem' friendly and 'seemed' to have an attitude.

Why am I posting this? Now that we know that Jurors will be brought in from another place and will be housed in a confined space, it will be vital to protect their mental health to allow proper deliberations after which i presume will be a long trial.

NEWS: Partial Change of Venue Granted. Trial Date Set. Gag order.

Partial Change of Venue: Jury will not come from Carroll County. It will be brought in from another Indiana county. One week until that county is named.

Link to news: https://www.wthr.com/article/news/crime/delphi-girls-murdered/richard-allen-delphi-murders-in-court-this-week/531-d90afe2a-671a-4440-bdd4-b7f42f78cc68

Judge Frances Gull gave the prosecutor and defense one week to agree on a county where they will select a jury and bring that jury to Carroll County.

This is the latest from Indy Archive & Thomas Frost. This shows Richard Allen at the courthouse. He has 20+ cops guarding him. And at the end of the video the massive security detail passes by the CVS pharmacy.

Theories Could this explain why the conservation officer never spoke up for 5 1/2 years?

Like many people, I have been wondering why the conservation officer who took down Rick Allen's information would have remained silent for 5 1/2 years. After just one or two years, any normal person would have called Doug Carter or Tobe Leazenby to remind them to follow-up on Allen. When LE asked for information about the driver who parked at the CPS building, that should have been an immediate call.

So what happened? I think the only logical explanation is that the conservation officer couldn't make that phone call because he had passed away.

When I looked for information about Indiana conservation officers who died shortly after the Delphi murders, I found this brave officer:

https://www.heraldbulletin.com/news/local_news/conservation-officer-who-died-in-rescue-attempt-honored/article_f447a67b-e3a8-5ac0-9d8d-d88263483d83.html

This particular officer died the morning of the February 13, 2018 press conference, so he never heard Doug Carter's plea for more information that day. He also worked in Central Indiana, primarily in Madison County, which is only one county away from Carroll County. When Indiana was using all available officers to canvass the Delphi area immediately after the murders, I think there is a good chance he was one of them.

So what do you think?

  1. Do you agree the conservation officer must have passed away?
  2. Do you think the deceased Madison County conservation officer might have been the officer who took down Rick Allen's information?
